Bak Kut Teh @ AMK

Stall Name: Eng Joo Bak Kut Teh
Place: Ang Mo Kio
Address: Ang Mo Kio Blk 341 Market
Speciality: Bak Kut Teh ($6), Pig Trotter ($5)

Bak Kut Teh is the famous food there although the Pig Trotter and other of the small side dishes are fantastic as well.

The Bak Kut Teh is just fantastic with its soup rich in taste and meat tender and yet not too soft in the mouth. Each bowl is served with meat of Bak Kut and not bones with meat grown around it. Soup is refillable when you dine there and if you take away, they give you a big container so that you can enjoy more of the soup.

For take away scenario, I will away bring the soup home and add a little water to the soup and then boil them together. I find that the soup is always a little salty when take away but adding water, blend them well and boil them gives a smoothing and refreshing taste.

Meat portion is generous with 4-5 pieces of meat with every serving.

Comments:
This stall is famous and have many awards to it. If you look at the wayu they prepare, the man (presuming the owner) pick every piece of meat in each bowl carefully and the soup are mixed in order to give you the perfect experince of Bak Kut Teh. I dont know about other stalls but the overall experience from the way they pick the meat till the way your devour it, it is just fantastic.

Rating:
9/10 - The only drawback for not getting a perfect 10/10 score is that it is not cheap at $6 per bowl in a hawker centre setting. $5 would be perfect.

Food wise, it is one of the best Bak Kut Teh I ever had.
